As befits a regional service centre, Bundaberg offers excellent shopping facilities. The Central Business District accommodates one of the major department stores (Target) and has numerous specialty shops, eateries, hotels and service outlets. Two major suburban shopping nodes, Hinkler Place & Mall and Sugarland Shoppingtown, are easily accessible and offer major retailers (K-Mart and Big W), supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths, Action and Bi-Lo) and associated smaller retailers. Smaller neighbourhood shops are conveniently located to enable residents and visitors to stock-up on forgotten items.

The beachside town of Bargara boasts a thriving foreshore recreational business district, combining retail, service and catering outlets, with a shopping complex only minutes away. Hinterland and other coastal towns are well served by their local general stores.
