Sports, Leisure and Recreation
The climate in Bundaberg encourages residents and visitors to partake in a variety of sporting and leisure activities. The mix of traditional and popular activities ensures that a large proportion of the community is well catered for. Facilities are maintained to a high standard, necessitated by the high level of usage, providing the opportunity to retain competitions from year to year.

The Bundaberg District plays host to several sporting competitions. Basketball, cricket, all football codes, hockey and netball all provide opportunity for competitive sport year-round. Tennis, swimming, athletics, cycling and martial arts are well patronised. More leisurely, but no less competitive, lawn bowls, croquet and golf are well supported and serviced with numerous clubs in the district. For the more extreme tastes, Bundaberg boasts BMX clubs, skatebowls and Go-Kart racing, while a short trip to Lady Elliott Island provides access to what is considered as one of the top diving sites in the world. Indoor sports of cricket, netball, soccer, gymnastics and table tennis are also catered for.
A 16-land indoor bowling complex provides an alternative for recreation. The complex has additional mini-golf, pool tables and arcade games to make a
full day of entertainment. The racecourse holds regular meetings of both horse and greyhound racing, with access to state and interstate meetings.
Bundaberg has an abundance of attractive parks and gardens. The Riverside Parklands provide a leisure area for families with access to BBQ facilities, toilets, boating facilities, cafe's, restaurants, and bars.
The Botanical Gardens provide idyllic surroundings for a relaxing afternoon. The river is easily accessible for fishing, boating or water-skiing.
